October 2020 Davar Monthly Update

A Note from the CEO

Some of the elders in my church have been reading the book Discipling — How to Help Others Follow Jesus, by Pastor Mark Dever. In it, Pastor Dever states, “The work of discipling… requires an investor’s mentality, knowing that the return is eternal. And the investment occurs through God’s Word (my emphasis added)… God’s Word is the seed that ultimately bears fruit, even if we don’t see it in the short term.”

As God’s Word is the seed that bears fruit, how will this seed be planted with the oral peoples of the world unless they can hear it? At Davar, we believe that with access to the recorded Word of God, families, tribes and nations will live transformed for his glory.

God has been so faithful amid the challenges presented by a worldwide pandemic to allow the kingdom work of Davar to continue. He deserves all the glory for the 17 Bible recordings completed in 2020 and the additional 24 projects underway.

Please join with us in prayer and financial support to plant seeds of hope and transformation for millions of oral learners around the world.

Blessings,

Mark Perkins, CEO

Help the People of South Sudan Hear God’s Word

After decades of Civil War, South Sudan is one of the world’s poorest countries and ranks among the lowest in many socioeconomic categories. Of the nearly 12.6 million people living in South Sudan, 73% of the population is illiterate—roughly 8.15 million people—and half live below the poverty line. Educational attainment is extremely poor due to the lack of schools, qualified teachers, and materials.
